Transient Combined Radiative and Conductive Heat Transfer in a Polyamide 6T Layer
Mechanical Engineering Department, K.N.T University of Technology, Tehran, Iran An analysis is developed for computing transient thermal behavior in a layer of polyamide 6T. The radiative two-flux equation is coupled with the transient energy equation, and for the general boundary conditions of external convection and radiation on the layer with diffuse interfaces, it is shown that the two-flux method can be used to predict accurate steady-state temperature distributions. The layer refractive indices are larger than one and internal reflections are included. The analysis includes internal emission, absorption, and isotropic scattering and heat conduction. An advantage of the two-flux method is that isotropic scattering is included without any additional complication and some transient results with large scattering are given to illustrate scattering effects.
