Analytical formulations based on material responses of "anisotropic viscoelastic designer materials" developed in the present paper prescribe what type of optimal anisotropic viscoelastic materials are to be manufactured to meet specific service requirements of loading, moisture and temperatures for quasi-static and time dependent environments.

Key Words: anisotropic viscoelasticity • composites • damping • designer materials • optimal material characterization • structural control • volume fractions
